One Page Zines
How to make a comic in one hour.
You’ve heard of one page zines, right? Little books that are composed of a single page of paper, cleverly folded and cut to create tiny codex that requires no stitching or stapling.
I’ve use this method of making a zine a million times, both as an artist and an educator. You can build a really approachable and adaptable workshop around these things. I’ve taught them in infant schools, universities, prisons and SEN’s settings.
Here’s how you make them.
A couple of weeks ago, I decided to start making a one page zine in one hour, once a week. I’ve been using it as a little “warm up to the week” task. I try not to be precious and I try to enjoy it. I give myself a single word and I make one drawing per page. So far I have a comic for the words “Bikes”, “Towers” and “Sticks”.
Here they are in all their glory:
At the bottom of this post you’ll find the digital files to my little books. Go ahead, download them, print them, fold them and be the proud owner of them all. Or even better, make your own, I’d love to see them if you do.
In other news, the role playing game that David Blandy and I are working on, Islands of Weirdhope, launches soon on Backerkit, do check it out and give us a follow:
Here are your one page zines:

These zines are really fun! I particularly like the huge stick growing out of the ground 😄
